FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

The 401(k) account is funded by elective deferrals made by you or by rollovers that you make into the Plan from another qualified plan, an individual retirement account or an annuity. To begin deferrals, you must complete a 401(k) Election Form or a Roth 401(k) Election Form. Once you elect to defer, an individual account will be established for you at Milliman, the Fund Recordkeeper.
Roth contributions are made from wages after taxes and withdrawals are generally not subject to tax if you are over age 59 ½ or disabled and began contributing 5 years prior to the distribution. Meanwhile traditional contributions are made before income taxes are deducted and are generally taxable upon distribution. This is a very general description, for details see the Summary Plan Description - 242 or Summary Plan Description - 294.
Everyone’s situation is unique, please consult a financial advisor or tax expert regarding your individual circumstances Channel Financial can assist with your overall financial picture, contact a Channel Financial team member at 877.333.7535.
You may have money in both a Roth account and a traditional account, but the Plan does not allow you to contribute to both at the same time.
To begin contributing to either plan, or to make a change, please complete the 401(k) Election Form and provide it to your employer. You may change your election from Roth to Traditional (or vice versa) at the start of any monthly payroll period.
You may contribute a per hour amount of any whole dollar, however the IRS limits total contribution amounts. As of 2022, the limit is $20,500 (or $27,000 for “catch up contributions” if over age 50). If the limit is exceeded the excess contributions will be refunded.
To change your investment allocation you will need to contact Milliman, the Fund Recordkeeper, either by phone at (866) 767-1212 or online.
